ABOUT AJ

AJ was born in Dublin and moved to London to pursue a career in the performing arts. He enjoyed a successful performing career before turning to fitness and eventually splitting his time between coaching, choreography and creative direction/writing. 

FITNESS

AJ is an international fitness and wellness coach with 20 years of professional teaching experience. He trains high net worth clients across worldwide and has taught for every major high end gym in London including KX, Equinox, Soho House, Bodyworks West and Frame. His strengths lie in multidisciplinary coaching, training and working at scales from individuals to crowds of thousands (as in the Wembley danceathon he taught for Comic Relief). Once voted one of the top 5 Zumba instructors in the UK by the public (via www.latinolife.co.uk) AJ is known for bringing humour and an easygoing manner to all of his work. It is his belief that whilst the process may be boring, the teacher can make anything fun. His classes have been listed as British Vogue and Timeout's picks of the year and the Balletone class he created for Equinox was one of Harper Bazaar's 13 classes to watch. AJ has worked to elevate fitness and dance provision in the UK and beyond by making them accessible to wheelchair users, people of all ages and backgrounds and financial situations. His classes and routines on YouTube have been viewed by hundreds of thousands of students for fun and wellness worldwide. He was the personal trainer for the dancers on ITV's Dance Dance Dance and has been brought in to Google, Amazon and Facebook amongst others to provide speciality fitness and dance courses for the staff. 

PERFORMANCE

AJ performed in the West End and internationally for many years. Some of his West End credits include Chicago (Swing, cover Amos Hart & Mary Sunshine) at the Cambridge Theatre and the European and West End premiere of A Man Of No Importance (Father Kenny) at the Union and Arts theatres. His international credits include the Irish premiere of The Last Five Years (Jamie), Songs For A New World (Man 1), Listen To My Heart (Man 2), Pirates of Penzance (Chorus) and the Netherlands tour of Druid.   

His television and film work includes Mrs Browns Boys D'Movie, Ella Enchanted, BBC's Eastenders and The Tudors for Showtime. He has worked on and appeared in ads for Dior, Subway, Nintendo, Tictac and fronted the viral 'Hardchorus' campaign for Puma.

CREATIVE

AJ has presented, choreographed and co-creatively directed his own children's TV show segment PopUp Popstar, creating music videos with children for Irish national broadcaster RTÉ. He also choreographs Music Videos for bands like the Staves, Client_03 and Sara Belkner, live danceathons for Red Nose Day and musicals such as the 43 Club at The Other Palace. He choreographed the Kitchen Dancing virals for Sainsbury's featuring Tom Daley, Louise Redknapp and various others and led auditions for Flirty Dancing (ITV). His own musical Unicorn (written with Simon Lock, Jen Whyte and Ben Van Tienen) was workshopped at The Other Palace in 2019. 

He also puppeteers blogger Fad Monster with his partner Simon and lives in London with the partner, the puppet and cats Harry and Skye.
